with love

Colonel Meow passed away a couple of days ago.
Colonel Meow
He was a facebook star and scotch drinking overlord of all humans.
He looked grumpy, but probably wasn’t really, like Grumpy cat.

And this reminded me, it’s been almost a year since my Nala passed.
Nala for those who never met her, was adorable and fluffy looking, with the biggest eyes you ever saw and quite possibly one of the meanest, most cantankerous female cats ever to grace this earth.
She was overweight, impatient and would pee and the clothes of people she didn’t care for.

Nala

She would sit in or on anything that might be important.

And she barely put up with Thom the Kitten.

And she was mine. Every mean bitter little pound of her.

She passed just days after I returned from a trip up to the North Shore for my spring break.
She was diabetic and required medication twice a day. She was 16 years old.
It might have been old age, but…
I still wonder now and then if I hadn’t left her alone…

I still have young Thom Jones, although he’s almost 6 now.
And even though it’s so painfully hard to lose a close pet ,  I can’t see my life without my pets, they had so much simple and pure affection to our daily lives.
So even though it hurts when they leave, if able I will again and again open myself to theses little guys.

So last weekend while we were meeting some dogs that we might like to bring into our family in a month or so, we brought home this little guy.
Introducing Batman.

So it’s with love we welcome little Batman into our lives and our hearts.

Just like we welcomed Cow, Nala, Gizmo, Muffy, Lilly, Lina, Charlie, Pic and Thomas Jones.
I’m sure Nala would have hated you, but that’s okay.
You are part of our odd little family now.
